Dr. Spiegel was recently invited to speak at the 2nd International Symposium of Lymphedema Surgery and Breast Reconstruction at The University of Tokyo Hospital about stacked Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator (DIEP) flaps with vascularized lymph node transfer for breast reconstruction. While Attending the symposium Dr. Spiegel observed in live surgery and learned about lymphatico venous anastomosis procedures from Dr. Isao Koshimo, who is the pioneer of supermicrosurgery. This technique can be used in addition to lymph node transfer.
Luckily Dr. Spiegel got to see these gorgeous cherry blossom trees in full bloom while she was there!
